Refund Policy
Last updated: April 26, 2026
1. Overview
This Refund Policy applies to all paid subscriptions to CheckClause, an AI-powered contract review service operated by Alex, an independent developer (sole proprietor) based in Kazakhstan ("we", "us", "our"). By purchasing a subscription, you agree to the terms set out below. This policy works alongside our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.
2. 14-Day Money-Back Guarantee
We offer a 14-day money-back guarantee on your first payment for any paid plan (Freelancer or Agency). If you are not satisfied with the service, you can request a full refund within 14 days of your first payment, no questions asked.
This guarantee applies only to the first payment on a given account. Subsequent renewals are covered by section 3.
3. Recurring Subscriptions
CheckClause subscriptions renew automatically each billing period (monthly). After the initial 14-day window, we do not provide refunds for renewal payments, including partial or unused periods.
You can cancel your subscription at any time by emailing hello@checkclause.com from the address on your account. After cancellation:
- You retain access to paid features until the end of your current billing period.
- You will not be billed for the next period.
- No refund is issued for the remaining time in the cancelled period.
4. How to Request a Refund
To request a refund, send an email to hello@checkclause.com with:
- Subject line: Refund Request
- The email address associated with your CheckClause account
- The order ID or date of your payment
- (Optional) A short note about why you are requesting the refund
We will respond within 5–7 business days. If approved, the refund is issued to the original payment method. Depending on your bank or card issuer, the funds typically appear within 5–10 business days after approval.
5. Exceptions
A refund request may be declined if:
- The request is submitted more than 14 days after the first payment.
- The account shows signs of abuse — for example, an unusually high volume of analyses run shortly before the refund request.
- The account has violated our Terms of Service.
- A chargeback or payment dispute has already been initiated for the same charge.
6. EU and UK Consumer Rights
If you are a consumer based in the European Union or the United Kingdom, you have a statutory right to withdraw from your purchase within 14 days of placing the order under the EU Consumer Rights Directive and the UK Consumer Contracts Regulations.
CheckClause honors this right in full. Starting to use the service does not waive this right of withdrawal — you may still request a refund within 14 days of your first payment.
7. Free Plan
The Free plan is provided at no cost, so no refund is applicable. If you have questions about the Free plan, contact us at hello@checkclause.com.
8. Payment Processor
Payments are processed by our third-party payment provider, which handles billing and may also process refunds on our behalf in accordance with this policy. We do not see or store your card details.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Refund Policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated by email at least 30 days before they take effect. Updates do not apply retroactively to purchases already made under the previous version of the policy.
